Salutations everyone.

I'm a grade eleven female student, and I'm doing a persuasive essay on just this topic. I'm gravely disappointed with the current system in place. Now I personally love school and I love to learn which most students would disagree and run in the other direction. I'm an unusual student who asks a lot of questions and will ask why a certain section isn't being discussed in class, but I digress.

When I was in middle school I frequently did all my work on the school's computers because at the time there was only one in my home and it was often unavailable to me. This worked for a while until I began to notice more and more sites were being blocked and no longer allowing me to view them. I attempted to do a project on cloning and I had over fifteen citations and references that I used. On the school computer, almost half of them were blocked. Now I understand things such as facebook and myspace being blocked - I personally don't have them and refuse to use those two, but I will admit I am obsessed with Gaiaonline - along with the others that things like porn and such should be blocked. Other than the obvious sites though, leave them unblocked and same with filtering programs, they are unreliable. If a student gets access to an inappropriate site than they should get a nice chatting to, otherwise cease and desist with any further blocking. Now as I said before, I used to use the school computers, no longer. If I have an assignment I dread the moment I have to go use one of the school's laptops or desktops for not only are they extraordinarily slow and prone to glitching and shutting down (even though they are only a year old) most of the information and reliable sites I access at home are blocked for no reason. It feels as if I'm being slighted really. It's becoming ludicrous and I despise the moment when its time to use the computers, I truly do. It's ineffective and the system needs to change desperately.

So far I have taken over 2500 pictures. But the internet is too slow for me to upload them.

So here is a teaser to hold you over until I get home and can go through all the pics and upload the good ones.

The trouble is that the people who should be watching, listening and wondering about the geological realities, will just take a few pictures and go to the gift-shop.

At night they will read Genesis, and that will contain all the comforting answers that they want.

---------

As an aside, but surely worrying: "....an increasing number of Muslim students studying at University College London (UCL) have been boycotting lectures on evolution as they clash with their beliefs.

Steve Jones, the Emeritus Professor of Human Genetics who teaches Biology undergraduates at the University told the Sunday Times “They don’t come or they complain about it or they send notes or emails saying they shouldn’t have to learn this stuff”. He suggested that this was because “they object to the idea that there is a random process out there which is not directed by God”.

This opposition to the subject has been seen before on university campuses, when in 2006 students from King’s College London circulated leaflets questioning Darwinism at Guy’s Hospital as part of Islam Awareness Week...."

Thanks. I've been wondering about the co2 fertilizer bit.

One thing I can't fathom is the guy (name escapes me) that promotes the "fertilzer" the strongest was once a good scientist w/ ARS before he retired.

I should add that most of the things I look up at school DO have to do with subjects we are taught in school. It's almost impossible to study online for my Rock n Roll History class at school.

I am in highschool. Most of my research must be done outside of school, because almost everything is blocked. For example, I googled "Pansexual." Wikipedia was just about the only site not blocked. I wasn't looking for porn, I was looking for discussion.
Religion is also cencored. Christianity is A-Okay, any Jesus-loving site was unblocked and full of ignorance. Google "Laveyan Satanism," and, again, only Wikipedia.

I'm tired of it. I'm all for blocking porn sites, but seriously? I want to learn the stuff that they don't fully teach in school.

It is biased and stupid.
... I'm actually posting this from school. Haha.
They are blocking all the wrong things.
Maybe have something on the school internet that records what sites people go to, and if they cosider something inappropriate, call a meeting with the student and the parents and have a nice talk. If it truely is inapprortiate, ban them from the internet.

Sorry for any mispellings, my school doesnt allow Firefox.

My father used to play this to me when I was a child. You might think this was questionable, but I do not believe that he meant to encourage misbehaviour ;-)

It always had me in stitches, and as you know, the damned thing squirrels around in you head long after listening. Thanks for reminding me.

Either you are not mad, or we both are.
